This fall, the Rio Grande Community Farm will not be hosting our Maize Maze. Due to the ongoing drought, Los Poblanos Fields Open Space has been without flood irrigation since the end of June. Without water, none of the fields can sustain the sorghum needed for the maze, and so we are canceling this year’s event.
While we’re saddened to pause this tradition, we are glad to support our neighbors at the Agri-Nature Center during their Fall Festival October 18th and 19th. We remain deeply committed to caring for our land, our farmers and gardeners, our wildlife, and our community, even in challenging times.
How You Can Help
The Maize Maze has always been one of our largest fundraisers, providing critical support for farm operations, wildlife habitat, and community programs. Without it this year, we are especially grateful for the generosity of those who can step forward to help us sustain the farm through this difficult season.
If you love seeing the fields alive with gardeners, farmers, school groups, pollinators, and migrating birds, please consider making a gift to Rio Grande Community Farm. Every contribution, no matter the size, helps us continue our mission of regenerative farming, education, and conservation. DONATE HERE
