Tamales are a time-honored, seasonal food in New Mexico. Learn how to make traditional New Mexican tamales (pork, vegetarian, or vegan) and watch a biscochito demonstration in time for the holidays. Dec 4th, 5pm – 8pm.

Admit one to the tamale making workshop!

Tamales will be pork and red chile with option to make 1-2 bean/cheese or calabacitas.

Vegetarian and vegan options are available, filled with calabacitas or beans (cheese is optional). The veggie/vegan masa is made with olive oil.

In this workshop you will learn how to prepare tamales, make red chile sauce (from scratch), and cook your tamales.

All participants will receive 1 lb of masa which will make between 9-12 tamales. You get to take home all of the tamales you make.

Tickets also include refreshments and a biscochito making demonstration (made with lard), which participants can take home.

All participants will also receive a pocket recipe book of traditional New Mexican recipes!

Location: 309 Stover Ave SW, Albuquerque, NM 87102 (Sacred Heart Church) located in the hall on the SE corner of 4th and Iron.

Time: 5 p.m.- 8 p.m. Workshop begins at 5:15 sharp!

This is a masked event, please be prepared to wear gloved when preparing food for the safety of you and others. PPE will be provided for participants.
